1. Membership Purpose
The Associate Supplier Membership program is operated by Canadian Gem Trade Guild. References to “the Guild,” “we,” “us,” or “our” mean Canadian Gem Trade Guild.
The Canadian Gem Trade Guild provides a structured membership program for gemstone and jewellery suppliers interested in exploring opportunities within the Canadian market.
The Guild acts as an intermediary between suppliers and potential buyers and may facilitate product submissions, evaluations and communication regarding potential purchasing opportunities.
2. Membership Eligibility
Associate Supplier Membership is available to individuals and businesses involved in gemstone mining, trading, sourcing, manufacturing or jewellery production.
Applicants must provide accurate information about their identity, business activities and products.
Membership applications may require a valid referral code and supporting identification or business documentation.
Other membership tiers, including Verified Supplier and Partner Supplier memberships, may be subject to additional eligibility requirements, fees and separate terms and conditions.
3. Membership Fee
The current Associate Supplier Membership fee is CAD $99 per year. Membership pricing may be subject to change.
The applicable membership fee will be disclosed before payment. Existing members will be notified of any change to their renewal fee before the next scheduled renewal.
Payment must be completed before the membership application is reviewed.
Payment does not guarantee membership approval and does not represent a gemstone purchase, deposit, investment or guarantee of future business.
4. Application Review
Applications are reviewed by the Membership Committee.
Applicants may be asked to provide additional information or identification documents during the review process.
The Guild aims to provide an initial response within 12 business days of receiving a completed application. Additional time may be required if further information or verification is necessary.
5. Approval and Membership Period
Membership becomes active once the application has been approved and the applicant receives written confirmation from the Guild.
The annual billing period begins on the date the initial membership payment is processed. Membership benefits become available upon approval and remain active for the remainder of the current paid annual billing period.
If an application is declined, the subscription will be cancelled and the initial membership fee will be refunded in full.
6. Refund Policy
If a membership application is declined, the membership fee will be refunded in full.
After membership has been approved and activated, the annual membership fee is generally non-refundable, except where a refund is required by applicable law.
A lack of purchasing opportunities, product submissions, offers or completed sales does not automatically entitle a member to a refund.
7. No Guaranteed Purchases or Sales
Membership does not guarantee:
- The purchase of any gemstone or jewellery.
- A specific number of product evaluations or purchasing opportunities.
- Direct introductions to buyers.
- A minimum sales volume, purchase price or profit.
- Market entry, business partnerships, immigration assistance or visa approval.
Any purchasing opportunity depends on buyer requirements, product suitability, pricing, documentation, market conditions and other relevant considerations.
8. Product Information and Disclosure
Members must provide accurate and complete information about products submitted for consideration. This includes, where applicable:
- Gemstone type, weight and dimensions.
- Known treatments or enhancements.
- Whether a gemstone is natural, laboratory-grown, synthetic or imitation.
- Country of origin, when known.
- Laboratory reports or certifications.
- Product condition, availability and asking price.
The Guild may decline to consider products where information is incomplete, misleading, unverifiable or inconsistent with applicable requirements.
9. Purchasing Arrangements
The Guild facilitates communication and purchasing opportunities between suppliers and potential buyers.
Any purchase or sale must be agreed upon separately and may include additional terms regarding price, inspection, payment, shipping, insurance, customs and delivery.
Membership does not require the Guild or any buyer to purchase products.
Members must not ship gemstones or jewellery unless they have received clear written instructions regarding the proposed shipment.
10. Identification and Privacy
Applicants may be asked to provide government-issued identification or business registration information for identity verification, membership administration and fraud prevention.
Personal information and identification documents will be accessed only by authorized individuals or service providers involved in membership administration or verification.
Identification documents will not be shared with potential buyers or referring members without permission, unless disclosure is required or permitted by law.
Information will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the stated purposes or applicable legal obligations.
Privacy-related questions may be directed to memberships@canadiangemtradeguild.ca.
11. Confidentiality
Members must respect the confidentiality of information shared during the membership and purchasing process.
This includes non-public information relating to buyers, suppliers, pricing, product evaluations and business arrangements.
The Guild is not required to disclose the identities or contact information of potential buyers or other suppliers.
12. Use of Guild Name and Materials
Members may use the Guild's name, logo, membership badges, digital IDs, membership cards, listings or other Guild materials only when authorized by the Guild and in accordance with any applicable conditions or guidelines.
Members must not misrepresent their membership category, claim a verification or partnership status they have not received, or suggest that the Guild has endorsed a product, guaranteed a purchase or approved a business relationship without authorization.
Use of the Guild's name or materials does not transfer ownership of the Guild's name, logo, website content or other intellectual property. Members must stop using Guild materials when their membership is suspended or terminated, or when the Guild withdraws its authorization.
13. Membership Renewal
Associate Supplier Membership is an automatically renewing annual subscription.
By purchasing a membership, the member authorizes Canadian Gem Trade Guild to charge the payment method provided for the applicable annual membership fee upon each renewal. The current annual membership fee is CAD $99.
Membership will automatically renew every 12 months on the anniversary of the original payment date unless the member cancels before the next scheduled renewal date.
Members may cancel their subscription at any time by contacting memberships@canadiangemtradeguild.ca. Cancellation prevents future renewal charges, but the membership remains active until the end of the current paid membership period.
Membership fees that have already been charged are non-refundable, except where required by applicable law.
Any changes to the annual membership fee will be communicated before the next renewal charge, and members may cancel before the new charge takes effect.
If an application is declined, the subscription will be cancelled and the initial membership fee will be refunded in full.
14. Suspension or Termination
The Canadian Gem Trade Guild reserves the right to suspend or terminate a membership at any time if a member:
- Fails to pay an applicable membership or renewal fee.
- Provides false or misleading information.
- Conceals gemstone treatments or other material product details.
- Submits fraudulent identification, certifications or documentation.
- Engages in unlawful, abusive or inappropriate conduct.
- Misuses the Guild’s name, reputation or confidential information.
- Fails to follow applicable membership requirements or policies.
- Engages in any activity that may compromise the integrity, safety or reputation of the Guild, its members or its buyers.
Where appropriate, a member may be given an opportunity to respond before a final decision is made. However, membership may be suspended or terminated without prior notice where appropriate.
Members whose memberships are suspended or terminated are not entitled to a refund of their membership fees, except where required by applicable law.
Upon termination, all membership privileges and access to Guild-related opportunities end immediately.
15. Acceptance of Terms
By accepting these terms at checkout, proceeding with payment and submitting a membership application, the applicant confirms that they have read, understood and accepted these Associate Supplier Membership Terms.
